still sick

Tuesday my throat hurt. Wednesday it hurt less but my head hurt more. Thursday was a little better until evening when my head got all stuffed up and my nose was dripping constantly. And I had a tickle in my throat which made me cough. And I still napped a little bit. Friday was the same, but not quite as bad. Not sure what today will bring.

I was wondering how much worse it would have been if I hadn't gotten a flu shot, until I remembered this is pretty much the same as the flu I used to get all the time, before I started getting the vaccine. That would lay me on the couch for a week straight. With this one, I'm up and around for the most part. Not well enough to work at my desk, though. I'm a bit slow.

I felt OK on Sunday, and went back to working from home. This week I've had minor sinus issues, and a slight sore throat again. Tonight I'm feeling a bit tired.

Cindy's home Covid test was positive today, and mine negative. I sent a message to my sister and Dad asking their opinion, and sister said her daughter has a sore throat, and the rest of them likely would be the weekend, so she canceled. Not sure what we'll do about Christmas with Mom.

Saturday I went grocery shopping and made supper. It took a bit out of me. Sunday I didn't do much at all, but today I'm back at work (from home). I'm very tired, falling asleep a lot, but that could just be because I didn't really get enough sleep over the weekend.

Cindy's up and around, and feeling better than she had over the weekend, but she's still got a way to go. I'll probably have to get groceries again tomorrow, ahead of Thursday's snowstorm.

I'm getting better, but Cindy's getting worse. She said she started feeling symptoms on Wednesday, and felt worse on Thursday. She took that afternoon off. She did a home Covid test and it was positive, so I took one and found it positive as well. Yesterday I was feeling marginally better than I had all week, and today I was feeling much better. Not well enough to sit at my desk and do work for half a day, which I considered (just to get a little vacation time back for the last week of the year).

I was feeling awful the first day, and I don't think it got any worse after that. Cindy's been going steadily downhill since Wednesday.

And yes, this is the first time either of us tested positive for Covid

I'm feeling marginally better today. My throat doesn't hurt as much. I'm still weak. Sinuses are a bit stopped up. Head and ears still achy. This thing started on Saturday night, so I assume I'll be well enough to get back to work by Monday, but it doesn't feel like I'm making very much progress at the moment.

Yesterday I actually went outside. I filled the birdfeeders and got the mail. I'm glad I did that yesterday, since the weather is so nasty today. Windy and raining, and the temp just above freezing. It doesn't get much worse than that.

I've got that thing I get after a bout of insomnia and exhaustion. It started with a slight sore throat this morning, and a general feeling that some illness was coming on. By midafternoon it had progressed to where I knew I'd be off work the next day. By the end of my workday, the throat was starting to get painful.

I fell asleep before 2 am this morning. That was the earliest this week. I was really tired on Monday, after time-change weekend, hoping that I'd back in shape on Tuesday, but I guess I just got used to the feeling. And it was a busy week at work. We're still in the midst of our software implementation, for which I am the most responsible. This will delay things.

the week

After posting about one really bad allergy attack, and several normal ones, they stopped. They haven't bothered me all week, until today. I guess that's because it's been raining so much. Also, I've been sick this week. Some pain in the top of the throat, sometimes a stuffy-feeling head, feeling worn out.

My cousin and his wife had wanted to come to visit my mom. He got a new job, so he couldn't take off, but his wife and her daughter came anyway, since she wanted to get away. So Cindy and I, and my sister and her kids went to my mom's for dinner on Monday, to visit with the cousins. Tuesday, mom and sister took them to see the Pabst Mansion and The Domes in Milwaukee, and then we met them for sinner at Cafe Benelux.

Wednesday was probably my second free night in about three weeks. Woo woo! From wednesday until monday, my only obligation out of the house (besides work) is the symphony on saturday. And monday is a day off. Hopefully I'll be feeling well enough to get something useful done. I need to get the vegetable garden dug and planted. Not sure I'll have the energy for that, but we'll see what happens.

allergies

I've got my usual spring allergies. I think my biggest problem is tree pollen. Normally, I take allergy medication only when I'm going to be outside. This year... the usual meds don't seem to be working. I took some before mowing the lawn the other night, and it was horrible. My nose was running horribly, and then my eyeballs started itching. Possibly my worst attack ever. Today, I was outside, but it was in the city, so I didn't think to take any. After getting home, I felt crappy, but at first I blamed it on the margaritas. Then I realized it must be allergies. So I took a pill, but nothing changed. My head feels all gummed up.

We picked up the new dishwasher on thursday, but I was too sick to mess with it. Last night I took the old one out, and determined what I needed for this one. And I mostly got it fitted into place. This afternoon I ran to the store for an elbow connector. Tonight, I wired it in, connected the hoses and got it set into place. Took me a couple of hours tonight. Not difficult, just kind of a pain.

Went to my mom's for Easter dinner, with my sister's family. Dinner was fine. After that we all watched The Three Stooges (last year's film). By "we," I mean "they," since I went in the back room to play Mah Jong on mom's computer.

I think I'm done with this cold. Not back to 100%, but close. Only a little tired today, and the sinus issues seem to be cleared up.

Yesterday, at 5:00, I got a flu shot. After supper, around 7:30, I had an annoying cough. About 9:45, I noticed a slight headache, that was definitely the early signs of illness. After a while, it became worse, and then I noticed aches in the body. By the time I went to bed, at 11:45, I was chilled and shivering uncontrollably. I woke up at 2:00, sweating, and turned the heated mattress pad off. When I woke up around 9:00, I was still very warm, and didn't cool off until sometime after I got up. My head hurt for a while, but it went away after took an ibuprofen.

For the rest of the day, I've been a bit weak, my eyes are kinda gummy, my throat has a not-quite-right feeling, and my sense of taste is bad.
