my gardening journal
Mar. 10th, 2022 08:47 pmIt sounds like there is a very real chance we could lose LiveJournal. Putin is threatening to close off the internet in Russia, which would mean LJ couldn't get out. Not sure how likely this scenario is, or how long it would last.
I backed up my LiveJournal here on Dreamwidth a couple of years ago, but I left my gardening journal alone. I wasn't as worried about it, not holding details of my life. But, like, today, I realized it has a lot of details of the life of my garden. It holds the only record of what is there, and where it all is.
Unfortunately, the journal is a community, and I don't know if or how you can move communities to DW. I downloaded the ljArchive app, to simply download a copy to my computer, which would be good, but server traffic was too high.
Edit:
I copied all the entries back to 2016, and pasted them into Word documents. I just copy-pasted the whole journal page, then did the skip 20, and did it again. It went back about 300 entries, which was to June of 2016. Then I went back and opened up all the entries with cuts, and copied the ones that seemed to have info I'd want to recall. It was kind of a pain, but I got all the info from the last several years, that I thought I'd need.
