Why, do you think, if They had shot down an airliner or two, they would not have wanted the public to know?

Perhaps they were concerned it might create the impression that perhaps the Bush administration knew about it apriori...? And that if they had known about it before the fact, that perhaps it could have been prevented?

You realize that the impending election will probably come down to Florida again, and that situation alone will cause such widespread depression that we'll probably see millions of chads hanging themselves in dispair...

I don't think scrambling some fighter jets to shoot them down - especially the airliners after the first strike - would have shown foreknowledge.

Yeah, I saw that. I've been meaning to post it.

A few of the images looked doctored (the ones of the fire trucks in front of the building, but maybe they just punched up the color). I think the only debunking of this film possible is that those pictures aren't real, and there really was a total collapse of several rings, and a lot of debris trucked out. But I never saw any of that either.

I remember having conversations, shortly after the attacks, to the effect of, Why didn't they do something? They should have had planes in the air. They could have shot those airliners down as soon as they realized they had chosen targets. I would not have held it against them.

Do you feel that the families of those passengers would not have been so forgiving?

If Flight 77 didn't hit the Pentagon, but was shot down, maybe they sent a cruise missile into the Pentagon to make sure the families didn't hold Bush (etc.) to blame for their loved ones' deaths. (But that would imply foreknowledge of the attacks to coordinate.)
