I'm liking the new Mustang. I like the way it rides. The suspension is firm but not hard. It corners well, too. It's got a six cylinder, so the acceleration is adequate. I don't have to worry whether I can get it up to speed, or beat oncoming traffic. Sure the five liter would be fun, but I don't think the expense is worth that occasional fun. I haven't even opened the hood yet. And I haven't checked the gas mileage.

It's black. I've always found black to be a bit boring, but it looks good. They don't make them in twilight blue, so I'm stuck. It has no frame around the window on the door, so I'm going to have to get used to the finger prints on it.

The interior is black and grey. Except for lacking lumbar support, the seats are comfortable. I'm going to have to do something about that - at least on trips. I can't quite get the seat adjusted right, though, which is dumb because they're electric and are more adjustable than the old manual one. I guess I just expect too much. Actually, I want the seat to tilt back when I lower it, not forward. I'm tall, and the car isn't great on headroom, so I try to lower the seat, but it tries to dump me forward.

It's got the Mach stereo. The six disc changer is great, but the amps are overrated. I've got to turn the bass way down. The music I like was designed have the bass heard, not felt. Balance, people.

The trunk has a decent amount of floor space, but the amps take up vertical space.

I'm going to have to do some research on tires. The ones on it are wide (and expensive), so I want to get some snow tires.

Yeah, I'm liking the new Mustang.

When I was much younger (this is going to age me!) I owned a brand new 1967 Mustang. It was the BEST. Sometimes I like to drive sports cars. I also owned a 1986 Nissan 300ZX - very cool. But no more. I'm not cool anymore. Just an old lady putting along in a Toyota. *sigh*

Anyways, congrats on the new car! Have loads of fun. :-)

That could very well be what hers looks like now.

A five litre engine? That's mad. I don't know if you can buy a car with a five litre engine here, beside seven-seat or off-road things the size of a house.

Anyway, why would your engine size be in metric?

Some time in the eighties engine sizes all began to be reported in litres. Back in the sixties, all the muscle cars were listed in cubic inches. 454, 440, 455, 460, 426. 350's and 351's were still decent. A 5 litre is a 302. That's just about as big as they come these days.

We have two cars, with 1.2 and 2 litre engines. When we bought the second one, I thought that 2 litres was a bit big.

Small cars, I hope. My old Mustang had a 2.6 Liter. It certainly wasn't quick, but it moved around fine.

What kind of gas mileage do they get?

The 2 litre engine is in an estate (station waggon, I think you'd say), so that's a fair size. You can get furniture in the back. It's pretty fast. The other is very small.

I don't really know what the fuel consumption is like. I'd guess between 30 and 40 miles to the gallon, but of course our gallons are a different size to yours...

I'm liking my new minivan, too. I also have to get used to fingerprints, as it is dark blue. The dark color wouldn't bother me if there wasn't construction going on near my parking spot. The poor van is covered in a thin layer of dirt. I switched the radio to Howad Stern (a program I never listen to) this morning and was shocked by how I could FEEL him talking with the bass up at about 70%. It was disturbing. I'll have to remember to flip past that station a little faster next time :)

My driveway is gravel, so my car gets a bit dusty. And a lot of gravel on the floor.

That reminds me of living near the beach (it was sand instead of gravel).

for snow and ice tires, take a look at the Nokian Hakkapeliitta and the Bridgestone Blizzak lines.....both seem to work well (even without studs)

I'll take a look. I think a friend recommended the Blizzaks.

Those Nokias seem to be great in wet conditions too, which are really more prevalent in winter around here, due to all the salt.

i have the nokians......but they are studded.....they are the best winter tires i have ever owned.....our bookkeeper has a set of non-studded ones on her toyota that she uses all year round....
