I get uncomfortable when people start saying things like, "when the war starts..." First of all, I don't think the war *was* a foregone conclusion. I think Bush & Co. were waiting for Saddam to fuck up the weapons inspection, even if the had to push him to get that to happen. So what does that mean? War was likely but not for certain. What does that have to do with the cirent situation? Is war a certainty? I don't know yet. I doubt it, but I can't say for sure. So why does it bother me that people talk like it is? Not because of the inaccuracy.
It's because Bush is still trying to win people over. And the more that people talk like it *will* happen, the more people become resigned to the fact. Pretty soon every one is acting like, "oh yeah, it's gonna happen. Go ahead."
