In my previous post, the thing that scared me the most was this:
A district judge in Oklahoma City upheld the policy, ruling that the intrusion into the students' privacy interests was minimal considering the devastating effect of illegal drug use on children.One of those courts decided that violating the fourth amendment was okay because it was only a little violation.

I think the only time I've ever used them is for dramatic effect.
Lonita (among others) has been known to use them to hide punchlines.
