In my previous post, the thing that scared me the most was this:
A district judge in Oklahoma City upheld the policy, ruling that the intrusion into the students' privacy interests was minimal considering the devastating effect of illegal drug use on children.
One of those courts decided that violating the fourth amendment was okay because it was only a little violation.

Agreement is welcome!

Well, I guess I couild have cut that post, but I wasn't sure whether to cut the last or the second and last sentences. ;-)

I think they're highly overused.

I think the only time I've ever used them is for dramatic effect.

Lonita (among others) has been known to use them to hide punchlines.

I'm always amused to see the "Drug-Free Zone" signs outside schools where 20% of the kids are medicated with Ridalin...

:-D

I guess, "illegal drug free zone" doesn't have quite the ring to it.

The courts, apparently, don't think the constitution applies to citizens until they reach a certain age. Children don't have rights to privacy, according to the court.

The fourth amendment also doesn't apply to how corporations treat their employees.

Ooo! Good one!

Yeah, I thought of that, but that was never mentioned in the article. What the hell happened to the art of journalism?

There is no art to online journalism. It's given in little bits and pieces because Joe Average doesn't want to waste time reading.

But it's not just online journalism. It's the regular newspaper too - both local coverage and the wire services.

Ha! The art of journalism went out of fashion when the word "liberal" became unAmerican, some time during the Eighties.

I'm looking forward to seeing you and Cyn again this Friday.
