cold

It was 5 degrees this morning. I had to walk up the road to deliver some mail to a neighbor, that we received by mistake. I got about halfway there when the wind kicked up. My eyes started watering. Fortunately it wasn't cold enough to freeze the tears. Then my face started hurting. The cold bit the space between the bottom of my hat and the top of my glasses. It was like an ice cream headache!

Walking back wasn't so bad. Then I cleared a little bit of snow and ice from the driveway. I was mostly warm, except for my cheeks.

It's cold there too

I was talking with someone from customer support this afternoon. She asked me how the weather was. I told her it was 5 degrees, and she said it was cold where she was, but she was glad it wasn't that cold. I asked her where she was, and she said Orlando, and that it was 35°! She said there was ice on the windows. That is cold for Orlando! Much worse for them than 5° is for us.

Edit: I just looked up the weather for Orlando, FL, and their low temperature today was 57°. So I don't know what's up with that. Did she mean the tiny town in Oklahoma? Did I mishear? Did she make it up? Not allowed to give out that info, and didn't want to tell me no, so she made something up?

She didn't have an accent I could place, so I'm pretty sure she was in the country.

Edit 2: A friend pointed out that it had been that cold a couple of days prior, so the woman wasn't talking about that morning, specifically.
