not a happy snow
Feb. 4th, 2021 11:11 pmI had to run to the pharmacy. I intended to go out in early afternoon. Maybe 1:30. I left at 2:00. By then it was snowing pretty hard, and by the time I was on my way home, it was really accumulating. So coming up the hill out of the parking lot, I got stuck at the light. I had to turn the traction control off to spin the wheels enough to get moving. Pissed off the people behind me, I'm sure. One guy was smart enough to get in the right-turn lane, and go around the traffic island, and turn left in front of me!
Once out on the road I was fine. And then I got into my driveway. I was rolling up to the garage, and then I stopped moving. I couldn't make it up the "hill" to the garage! What is it, like a 1° incline? It was a very wet, packing snow, and it turned to ice under my wheels. So I had to leave the car in the driveway.
I went out to shovel at about 9:15. Of course the winds picked up around 8:30. They were between 20 and 30 mph, driving a little bit of icy snow. The temps were still in the upper 20s at the time, but you could hardly tell, due to the wind. The wind in my face was nasty, but I stayed warm otherwise, and got it done in about 45 minutes.
And since getting stuck in traffic and in the driveway set me off, the rest of the afternoon went badly too. Work was a PITA after that.
