I was a little annoyed at losing the music that I had purchased in the last year - mainly because I couldn't remember most of what I'd bought. But when I went to buy some tunes from Amazon, just now, I saw they mentioned that they store it in their cloud. And I can either listen to it there, or download them up to three times. So I got it all back. Yay!

I decided to make snickerdoodles. I thought I had my grandmother's recipe, but after a search of the recipe folder, it turned out that I did not. So then I looked in the church cookbooks, but it hadn't been entered there, either. Someone else's was in one of them, so I went with that.

After a quick scan of the ingredients, I realized we didn't have any shortening. I decided to substitute butter (it was to be half butter, half shortening). Just as I was getting started, I realized we didn't have any almond extract either. I decided to substitute amaretto. So...

They're very buttery tasting, and the kitchen smells like amaretto. :-)

Oh, and the recipe didn't call for cream of tartar. Which we have a lot of, since Cindy bought a jar the last time she made snickerdoodles. Hmm, I wonder what recipe she used. Probably found it onine and then threw it away.

In August, we went north to Thunder Bay Ontario. On the way up, we reached Ashland at sunset.

It's just like in the old days, where, as the picture fades out, you just watch the little spot of light.

This is the largest ore dock of its type, in the world. Unfortunately, they're in the process of tearing it down. They drove trains out on it, the cars dumped their loads of ore pellets down these chutes into ships' holds.
