I was a little annoyed at losing the music that I had purchased in the last year - mainly because I couldn't remember most of what I'd bought. But when I went to buy some tunes from Amazon, just now, I saw they mentioned that they store it in their cloud. And I can either listen to it there, or download them up to three times. So I got it all back. Yay!

Clouds rule. I'm so happy for you!

Funny, they still had every song I'd downloaded from them, including the first one, which you had tipped me off to finding it there at Amazon, when I was searching for it. Bowie's version of "Growin' Up."

Fantastic!

Great! That's one good thing about the cloud (I'm uncomfortable with it because I don't like the idea of everything just "being out there").

Everything being out there, meaning your own info? True, but since the songs were not my creation, it's not a big deal. :-)

own info being out there

No, not that so much: I don't like the idea that say, a 120-page-document might not be stored on my computing device, and I might need it to work on, or print, and it's suddenly not available. And I'm screwed until things get fixed.

I've had less trouble with that, than with my own files not being available (obviously, or I would have been making this post ;-) ). But I can see why that would be even more aggravating, since you don't have any control to fix it.

I think it's the "having no control"... and being out here, where there are people who are still on dial-up (less, but the last I heard...).

A nice benefit of the cloud. I still like my "hard copy", though.

Definitely. But they have to store all the songs in the first place, so giving us a way to re-access them, is a way for them to make extra money from that fact.

What a relief! Except for the part about having to download it all again. Still much better than purchasing it again!!

Well, it was really only a dozen songs, so even if I'd had to buy them again, it wasn't a huge loss. I was more annoyed at losing them, and not even remembering what I'd lost. Even so, I couldn't have been too upset, if I didn't even remember what I'd lost, huh? :-)

It just bugged me. Either way, I'm happy now!

haha! Something similar happened to me years ago. Someone stole a bunch of my CDs but I could only remember some of what was lost. I would occasionally go looking for a CD later and couldn't find it, so I DID eventually remember. But still.
