[livejournal.com profile] lj_maintenance was on Cartman, so they couldn't post there to let everyone know what was going on.

At least we still had the status page.

Did you hear? Bush has allocated 15 billion dollars over the next five years to fight AIDS in Africa. Abstinence only education, of course. Randy Tobias, former head of "Eli Lilly and Company, one of our nation's largest and most innovative pharmaceutical companies," was appointed to head the inititiative.

Preventive education that doesn't work? What a boon for the pharmaceutical industry!

If someone is doing something that bothers you (for a long time), and then he stops doing it, don't tell him after the fact that it bothered you. Either give him the opportunity to rectify the situation, or forver hold your peace.

I'm thinking of things that have direct bearing on a personal relationship, but imagine if somebody told you, "I'm glad you got rid of those ugly glasses," that you had for years.

Just a thought.

Talking about Bob Mould with Lonita reminded me of the first time I bought some of his music. It was a compilation CD of MTV's 120 Minutes. One of the reasons I bought it was because it had Mould's "See A Little Light" on it. Also because it had RHCP's "Higher Ground" and TMBG's "Ana Ng." I just found a site by an amateur music critic, and his list of favorite songs included this song. He called "Ana Ng" "perhaps the greatest pop song of all time." I think that's pushing it, but I like it. The disc also includes, "I Melt With You" by Modern English, which he calls "the greatest pop love song ever written." Also slightly exaggerated. "Dear God" by XTC and "Carolyn's Fingers" by Cocteau Twins are also beautiful songs. I hope this CD never wears out.
