I disagree that Clinton should throw in the towel. I would like her to, but I don't see why she should be expected to. She still has a chance, and as long as there's a chance, she owes it to her supporters.

I don't care if she stays in it. I just wish she'd stop putting her foot in it all the time out of sheer desperation. I wish she'd give up on trying to SPIN everything by saying totally idiotic things. She has a broader base than Obama? Uh, right, lady. And the people who really matter in the Democratic Party are the hard-working whites like those in West Virginia (whose Primary just happens to be coming up)? If she'd stop saying such stuff she might help put the rest of us out of her misery.

I agree, it is getting very old for me listening to the "Obamamaniacs"---

Good for you!

One of my problems with Hillary is more of business as usual. I never liked her centrist/moderate position, and she's moving rightward, lately.

It would make it easier on the SUPERdelegates if she did.. who now feel that they are going to have to take action to make a decision. It is funny how they like the power, but when it comes down to .. UP TO THEM.. they don't like to make the tough decision. I really think all the hoopala is because the party is tired of the split, and it doesn't look like it is going to be resolved.. if she stepped down it would be easier on them.

*shrug*

I think like the sit and wait guys, it at least gives the illusion that the people have a say in who will be nominated. It also gives people a chance to see how their nominees act under pressure.

As indicated above, the call is mainly because of the superdelegates. If this goes to a brokered convention* and winds up in a floor fight, which it will since she's already calling for Florida and Michigan to get seats, it won't be good for anybody.

Right now, she's the underdog, and the party wags would really like her to bow out gracefully rather than drag this into a political cage match. if Obama were down, he'd be the one getting the pressure.

*Sometime in June or July, in order to avoid a brokered convention, I expect the superdelegates to have a quiet meeting, or series of phone calls, and settle the matter by declaring, en masse, before the convention in such a way as to make the Florida/Michigan delegates a moot point.

Sadly, I don't think it will work. Hillary doesn't know how to lose any more than W does, and she feels she's got something to prove.

ETA: I really don't care whether or not one, or even both, of these candidates drops out of the race anymore. I stopped watching when I started feeling like I was watching show ponies on parade.

She does and she shouldn't.

I don't think she owes it to her supporters to keep going. I don't see why they are owed that. They supported her, but it's her choice whether to continue or not.

Frankly, I think she owes it to her PARTY to drop out soon. This is just going to weaken the eventual D candidate.

Yes and no.

I'd be pretty pissed off if I had voted for her, she won my state, and she just dropped out. She'd become John Kerry, the candidate that didn't try hard enough.

On the other hand, if it's true that she's been mathematically eliminated, she needs to bow out. It's six months to the election. We can't afford to continue this fight for another three months.

Oh, and the expectation that she drop out has been going on since before she was mathematically eliminated. Which is almost as annoying as she is.

I agree, and I was disappointed when Edwards dropped out early.
