I just logged out and hit random fifteen times. I only saw one journal in Cyrillic. And I didn't see any ads. To this day, I have never seen an ad on LiveJournal.

I wonder what's up with this.

I could explain it if you were logged in since you are a paid, permanent member and the ads are not visible to us.

I wonder if you still don't see them because your computer number would still be "known" to the journal?

I've never seen the ads either.

i read logged out sometimes, and i've never seen an add, either.
i find a lot of those "russian" journals when i hit the random button, though.

I've just managed to see some Google ads by going to http://community.livejournal.com/lj_ads/4176.html without being logged in. I went to an ad community and they showed me ads! I'm not sure why I'm pleased about that...

Thanks. I checked members of that community for ads. I was a little disappointed to see ads on profile pages. Oh well. Strange though, that only about half the sponsored accounts actually had ads on their journal pages.

I didn't think the ads were all that bad. I can see why people would take them. The only time ads really bother me, are when they're obnoxiously animated, or the kind that crawls or positions itself over what you're trying to read.

And I discovered that account types are now, "basic", "plus", or "permanent".
