Yesterday, we helped our friends Doug and Susan move. They got married a couple of months ago, and just bought a house. Nice little place. I'm happy for them. Susan was stressed to the breaking point a few times. I guess Doug had to leave today, for the week. Not a good thing, but you do what you gotta do.
Yesterday evening, we lounged around a lot.
Today, we went for a walk at Lion's Den. It was wet. It rained today, for the first time in a couple of weeks. Took some pictures, before the battery died.
After that, we went shopping and bought a gas grill. It took me a while to assemble it. Not that it was that difficult, but I'm slow - I mean, deliberate. A friend was surprised I'd switch over to the dark side, being a grilling purist. The thing is, wood fires are a pain to get just right. And once you've crossed over to charcoal, you might as well go all the way. I wanted a Weber. They seemed like they'd be high quality, and be American made. I ended up saving a couple hundred dollars, by buying a Canadian make. It was made in China, but I didn't check where the Webers are made. I soothed my conscience by buying from a locally owned (franchised) store, rather than Home Depot.
Didn't do much after supper. putzed around outside a little bit. Spent a few minutes cleaning up in the basement. We've got a lot of work to do before our party. Only three weeks left! We've got a lot of cleaning to do. We had planned on doing most of it on the weekends, but the weekends keep coming and going, and we don't cross anything off the list.
I think I'll file some papers.

Date: 2006-06-19 03:51 am (UTC)From:That being out in the open, I LOVE my gas grill. The first one I got from donhodun years ago. The replacement for that one I got for Mothers Day/Birthday last year.
I use it al the time even in the winter months. We have a rotisserie for it. No pans to clean, man!
We also have a smoker, but when I let Vince get going with that thing we don't know what to do with all the meat afterwards.
If you are missing the wood flavor, buy some chips ;-)

Date: 2006-06-19 04:06 am (UTC)From:Ours is pretty big, and has a rotisserie, with the infrared heat panel in the back. And a side burner.
I'm not sure I'll use it much in the winter. That would require shoveling a path to the shed. Unless we get a cover for it and keep it up next to the house. Don't know.

Date: 2006-06-19 05:21 am (UTC)From:It took me a while to get used to the electric stoves. My only problem with it now is that I don't want to use the cast iron on the glass top.
I'm keeping the old charcoal grill for a while. Just in case.
Our new one doesn't have the lava rock. It's all stainless steel. I'll have to figure out the wood chip thing, for flavor.

Date: 2006-06-19 12:46 pm (UTC)From:Since Hank Hill sells propane and propane accesories, he thinks grilling with charcoal is the same as losing your mind. I sure wish I had a King Of The Hill icon.

Date: 2006-06-19 03:00 pm (UTC)From:Buuuuut, I really like laying a fire and getting the charcoals to do it's thing and whatnot too. Torn, I'm torn by it all. I guess you just need a firepit to get out all the firebug instincts while you cook with your gas grill, and then roast marshmallows over the pit:)
