low_delta: (I don't get it)
I had an issue with my new computer, where I couldn't figure out how to turn spellcheck off. A coworker asked why I wanted it off, but it seemed arrogant to say, "because I don't need it."

Sure, you only commit typos after 9 scotches.

I make a lot of typos, it's just that I can see them without a jagged red line underneath them.

I would have said it. Actually, I think I HAVE said it.

I didn't say I wouldn't. But it still seems a bit arrogant. ;-)

You don't need the AUTO spellcheck, I'm sure you meant. That's not such a big thing.

Yes, the autospellchecker is pretty damned annoying. But I don't use any of the spelling or grammar tools available in word processing programs. I do my own spellchecking... when I feel like it.

The AutoCorrect thing is a pain in the ass, particularly when I'm writing chemistry-related stuff, where NaCl becomes Nacl, and NaOH becomes Naoh becomes Noah. Then you turn in your report and get counted off for your helpful AutoCorrect feature.

I was on a forum tonight, where a guy had obviously spellchecked his posts - badly. My favorite was where he'd substituted "sacramental" for "scrapmetal".

The one that always got me was where I'd type "teh", and start to backspace, but just as I hit the key, it autocorrected it, so I ended up backspacing over the corrected word.

Surely "spell check"? 8~)

Come to think of it, I think it's "spelling checker." ;-)
