I'm sure about half my friends list has seen this already, but for the rest of you...

The table that my dad made from my grandpa's marble, and my friend and I finished.

Yeah, I think so too. Come on over, mix a martini, and put your feet up on it. ;-)

Ok, here's KUDOS for your page too.

I love the stone and wood, Kevin.

Can you really feel 'ok' putting glasses directly on it?

Thanks!

The marble is waxed, so it shouldn't have any problem with condensation. And even if it wasn't, plain water shouldn't cause a problem. I'm not sure about other liquids that might stain. I'd be less worried about stains on the wood, but more worried about liquids. Come to think of it, the varnish is pretty water resistant.

And trivets. Don't forget those either!

Bill says: "The finish is pretty water proof, you could leave water on it over night and it would be fine."

Bill says: "The finish is pretty water proof, you could leave water on it over night and it would be fine."

And I meant to say that I'd be less worried about plain water that I would be about things that might stain it.

I can see being cautious about things, but it drives me crazy to see people insisting on putting coasters under stemware (no condensation). And tables that are made for eating, are designed to handle moisture.

That is most definitely an heirloom! SUPER!

Yeah... coasters!

If that's your house, I'm amazed at your housekeeping skills.

We had to clear it out to get the table in there! Actually, it's always clean because we don't go in the living room much.
