A friend and I once had a little disagreement about the season. She said she liked autumn because the weather was good, and the leaves were turning. I disliked the fall because it was cold, wet and brown. I liked the spring because the weather was good, the grass was green and the flowers were coming up. She hated the spring because it was cold, wet and brown.

We've officially entered the good part of Spring. It's been trying to stay in the fifties, temperature-wise, for a couple of weeks, and yesterday it got well into the sixties. The high today was in the mid eighties. Amazing (especially considering it was fifty when I left for work).

The garden finally took off. I spent a couple of hours cleaning out the winter debris, and observing all of the life - both the green and the crawling (there were little spiders rushing everywhere, as I disturbed their habitats).

Tomorrow's project is leaves. Last fall, we were concerned with cutting up the tree, and then we went on our trip. After we got back, it snowed before I had a chance to burn the leaves we'd raked up. They've spent all winter collecting water, and now the pile is a soggy mass, killing the grass underneath. I guess I'm going to have to push them onto the garden and hope they decompose.

Anyway, I'm tired of being cold. It's nice to have warm weather, even if only for a couple of days.

I guess weather is not bad or good, it is how we perceive it to be good or bad for us. Anyway whether spring or autumn or cold winter, it is going to be there year after year. So make the best of it. I know you are doing that. You are writing just about how you feel.

ANd I am writing for just theheck of it.;-)

You want to trade places with me. You will have lots of warmth. You will need air conditioners. ;-)

All the best.

Yeah, but I'd miss the snow. :-)

I guess I'll have to leave it home. Do you want to igloo-sit for me?

Can you compost the leaves? it's a little work, but not that much, and the finished compost will be great in the gardens....

Not really. There are too many of them. The bottom of the pile is a slimy anaerobic mess. So putting them on the garden isn't going to help much. I'm hoping they'll decompose enough, over the summer and winter, that I can dig them in, next spring. But who knows.

the bottoms of my bins are pallets (as are the sides).....that allows air to get to the bottom of the composting material and let it dry, as needed....i find i have to water the compost to get it to work.....composting is a bit slow up here at latitude 61N, but it does work..
