Escher is back. She was pretty nervous when we picked her up from the vet, but now she seems to have calmed down. We spent a lot of time petting her, and she purrs more than ever. Hopefully, she'll be back to playing a lot.
The eye came out just fine. They shaved the side of her face, so instead of the pretty white and black fur, it's pinkish gray, with stitches across the middle. And it looks swollen. The incision is a lot longer than I expected. I guess they really had to open it up to get back in there. It's not pretty. She flinches if something touches it, although at the moment, she's sleeping with that cheek down. Not quite on the eye, but on the teeth.
She also had two teeth out. There was a hole and exposed nerve in one tooth, and an abscess on another. One top and one bottom molar. Unfortunately not exactly above each other. But they were both on the same side as the eye. So between the swollen eyeball and the teeth, she was in a lot of pain. We never had any clue.
She's got a neon pink bandage around her neck, covering up a painkiller patch. Hopefully, she won't get it off. We've got to give her antibiotics for a while, too. I think the narcotics have made her real mellow.

Isn't it something that she never gave an outward indication that she was dealing with pain.
