I happened to see the fishing report in the newspaper today. I didn't even know there was a fishing report. One item reported that a new state record was set for inland rainbow trout, at seven pounds, four ounces - the old record was four pounds six ounces. That seems impressive.
Another item read, "the area around the Oak Creek power plant discharges produced many small browns. Here, small minnows worked near the bottom were effective." What an intriguing bit of reportage. I imagine the reporter's investigation sounded a bit like this:
Reporter: "I see you're catchin some, dere, hey. Whatcha usin fer bait, dere?"
Angler: "I just got some minnows. I'm jiggin 'em around, down by da bottom, dere."
Reporter: "Seems to be workin pretty well for ya, hey?"
Angler: "Ya, I'm doin okay. I tink me an the missus got dinner here."
