I'd rather be good than lucky, because luck runs out. Failing that, I'll happily settle for lucky.
My car has been making bad noise. Every once in a while, it whines. Some weird kind of buzz coming through the speakers. When this happens, I can't listen to the stereo. I had it in to the dealer once, but it wasn't making the noise at the time, so they couldn't track it down. I knew the warranty was running out soon, but I wasn't sure when, because it was three years after the car was first sold, not when I bought it. So I made an appointment once again, hoping that it was still under warranty. It was, and they were able to fix it. It turns out that it was the alternator. It was putting out some kind of signal that was causing the buzz. That would have been very expensive if I'd have had to pay for it. And my warranty runs out next week.
