The charts were interesting. I noticed two things, and wonder if they account for our different experiences. First of all it says Grafton and your weather is often at least a little different than this much south.
The other was the chart for wind direction. About 1:00 the wind in Grafton stopped blowing a little southwest and went due west. Maybe that was why it was windier 'up north in Grafton'.

It looks like there's something wrong with their anemometer. But then you said it was fairly calm this afternoon.
