Went to Shank Hall to see Willy Porter last night. It was cool because this was the first time I've seen him play with a full band. It was nice to see him backed up by some talented musicians, even if he's talented enough that he doesn't need them. Willy was feeling kind of goofy, though, and tended toward some rambling attempts at humor. He was playing requests near the end of the show, and did his version of "Whip It," which he did for a tribute album, about ten years ago. It took him quite a while to convince the bassist to do it.
I spent the last few days cataloging our record collection. We've got about 750 CDs and 570 LPs. That's counting duplicates, though, and there's some of crap that we don't ever listen to. Anyway, I've got it all on a database and the LPs are alphabetized in boxes. Now I need to sort out the duplicates.
We were supposed to be taking the christmas tree down. Tomorrow, I guess.
I ended up spending $130 on the furnace. I though furnace filters should be changed yearly. But that's not the case with these high efficiency furnaces. The guy said every two to three months. But I knew it had gone longer than a year, anyway, so that was just dumb. I also forgot that the thing ran most of the summer too, since we have central air. So that was dumb too. The lack of air due to a the clogged filter cause the... something or other to fail. It was also having trouble because of a clogged drain. So I had the guy out here at night (at time and a half) to get the thingy functioning again, and then come back the next day with the proper replacement part, and do a full tune-up.
So what do I have to look forward to in 2006? First I have to get my shit together for my taxes - and soon. I also need to print, with my dad. I told him I'd be doing that in January. I still don't know what my subject is going to be. And I need to do something about the water softener, and one of the sump pumps. In other words... more of the same.
