Wow. That's double what the estimate on my last car was, and the damage was worse then. Of course, it was an older car, in both age and model year.

This is for new fender ($242), new hood ($420) (I didn't realize until I saw it in the daylight, that it is fiberglass, so you can't just bend it back into shape), new lights ($138), new mounting panel for said lights ($115) and under-hood emissions label ($12). Plus additional charges for paint and materials ($341). Labor ($887).

He says it will take a couple of days to do the work and he could probably get me in on wednesday.

I still haven't heard from the insurance agency. I called and the agent said someone from claims would be calling me.

That's terrible! Why don't they make rubber cars?

Part of it is. The bumper cover is pushed in just below the corner of the turn signal, and sticking out next to the tire, but will spring back into place when the new fender is put in.

I figured he'd do the Fred Sanford thing of clutching his chest and falling backward like he's gonna die.

Cyn is off work wednesday morning, so she can take me to work, then I'm off the next day, so I don't have to go anywhere. That should work out pretty well.

Since it was entirely the neighbor's fault, her insurance should cover the whole thing.
