One good thing about it being so late in the year is that the sun comes in the windows. Right now, it's almost reaching the couch across the family room from the patio doors. In the summer, there's only about four inches of sun showing on the carpet.

So winter isn't all bad.

And it's almost up to 50°. It's a little too windy to rake leaves, unfortunately. I think I'll give it a try anyway, though.

What a great location for the house. In the summer you don't want the sun in because it heats up the house. In the winter its so welcome.

Most new houses these days have wide eaves, and I suspect it's for that reason. It's also nice to have deciduous trees around, so the leaves shade you in the summer, and they let the sun through in the winter.
