Worked my brain off today at work. It still surprises me, sometimes, how tiring thinking can be. I also worked hard building some shelves, tonight. My reading comprehension is shot, I know that much. I was in the mood for some Scotch tonight (all week, really) but I feel like I'm fighting off an illness, so I'm skipping the alcohol.

We're having company on sunday. My friend Doug and his Susan are coming for dinner. Earlier in the day, he and I are going out on a photo excursion. We haven't done that in a couple of years. Wait - three? Four? Anyway, Cyn and I need to clean the house. It needs a cleaning anyway. I've been working on these shelves, to aid in the cleaning. Since they've never been here, we'll have to give them the tour of the house, which includes the basement, and I really want to get all that crap organized.

It's getting dark early, too. I've only got daylight on the weekends. Fortunately, there's not as much to be done outside, but I still have to plan my weekends carefully.

I've got too much to do. Seems like all my free time is booked up for the next several months. And not only with work-type stuff, but leisure-type stuff too. What's up with that? I've got so much going on on a regular basis. Tonight, while I was talking to Doug, I found myself talking really fast, like I had too many words and too little time. I've got to do something about that.

A few weeks ago, I went out to mow the lawn, and I was only half done when it got too dark to see. I don't think it even occurred to me that it would be a problem.

It surprised me too, but I chalked it up to still being new in this house.

I've talked too fast for far too long, and for the same reason. It sucks.

And it really isn't necessary. You just get talking like that because that's the mode you're in.

Actually, I learned it as a kid. It seemed the only way I could get a word in edgewise with my articulate brother and father was to speak quickly. And sometimes I still need to do so due to the short attention spans of library patrons. But for the most part, you're right, it doesn't help matters any.

Have you heard teenagers lately? They really talk FAST. R sometimes talks so fast that it's difficult for me and nearly impossible for my parents to understand her. It seems to me that as the pace of life continues to quicken and as ever more people are diagnosed with some kind of attention deficit disorder, young people will keep talking too quickly.
