Bush nominates Roberts as chief justice

Wtf? Does this guy have any judicial experience? Okay, he was an appeals court judge. I would have expected them to elevate a seated justice to that position. But Roberts wasn't going to get any opposition, so Bush didn't want to risk having his nomination for chief shot down.

also, since sandra day o'connor has said she would stay on as long as necessary, it means we will have a full court, pending roberts' confirmation.
