Is it true that anyone traveling out of the UK must have his personal effects and clothing sprayed with bleach?

When I was in Holland earlier this month, I did hear reports that people getting off flights from the UK were required to walk across treated carpets. I was surprised to see France handling anything from a British flight like it was Bio-hazard......I don't know if they are still doing that.....

A friend just came here (US) for a visit and they just wanted to know if he'd been on a farm in the UK.... Of course, I had him believing they would hose him off on the jetway.....I know, I'm not nice.....

UK Travel scuttled

Date: 2001-03-25 02:29 pm (UTC)From: (Anonymous)
Could this question be a result of a conversation with a couple of Baraboo folks headed for the UK?? The planned trip to England is scuttled due to the nature of the problem. My brother is a resident in the countryside in Windsor, England and states that the area is quarantined due to foot and mouth disease. He also mentioned that the smell of burning flesh is pervasive in the country. Recent trip to the US by this brother resulted in foot baths and disinfecting entire body clothing and luggage as he lives in the english countryside. Problem delays travel significantly.
