I'd swear it was just a few months ago that I saved a satellite photo of my house. I want one of my town, though, and I can't find one that doesn't have a website's name stamped all over it. Google Maps doesn't have a decent picture of my area. I thought Mapquest did sat photos, but I can't find them. Terraserver won't let you save anything.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I got this yesterday but I don't remember where. I googled "Grafton WI aerial". The site had a download option that let me save the whole picture instead of just a tile.

Take a screen shot from Terraserver and crop out the stuff you don't need. That's what I did with the shot I got from Google Maps.

I tried that too, but my Photoshop wasn't working at the time.

Thanks.

If you just want to crop a picture, the Windows paint program is fine.

I do think that you can save as a "jpg" from terraserver. Were you using this link?

http://terraserver.microsoft.com/

No, I was using http://www.terraserver.com/ I should have checked that one too.

http://terraserver.microsoft.com/ does allow you to save pics. That's what Cyn used, but it doesn't let me pan to exactly where I want, so I'm going to have to get two and stitch them together.

Thanks.

At terraserver you can do this:

When you have your house centered in the aerial photo, press the "print screen" or [PrtSc] button. Then go to one of your photo editing softwares, like photoshop, and import the image from the clipboard. Then crop the satellite image of your house and save it as a new file. Voila! You have a clean aerial photo of your house.

I tried that, but my Photoshop wasn't functional at the time. Thanks.

if you're using firefox, you can:
right-click
view page info

and go to the media tab to find most files.

I didn't try with a terraserver page, but it works for most.

Sounds interesting. I don't use Firefox, but next time around, I think I'll try it.
