There's a problem with erosion, but nothing that's going to cause the ground to give way under your feet. Unless you're standing way out on the edge during a storm.
It depends on what your definition of clean is. No toxic levels of mercury in fish? Then not clean. Whether it doesn't stink? Depends on where you go. Blue? Depends on the sky.
