Think about why you wouldn't want to be hooked up to machines. The thought makes me shudder. I've had nightmares about being immobilized and unable to communicate, but in pain or feeling claustrophobic. What if she is in there a "little bit?" What torture, like something out of the Twilight Zone. I would beg to be put out of my misery. Apparently she told this to her husband before she was incapacitated.
I assume they call it "shy-vo" because that's what her husband's family has called it. Now a real lover of research would look up the name, trace back family trees to "the old country" and look for reasons for pronunciations. I'm not that researcher.
Although-----I do like knowing the differences in how my father's and my mother's families spelled and pronounced their names over years. That's because someone else did the research and it's my family. :^)
I would hate if is my parents would not listen to my wishes. EVEN if I was dead...that's not the point. A direction or wish should be respected. My parents made it VERY clear that living in that condition was NOT acceptable to them either.
I was wondering "IF" Terry had a living will and everything was legal to take out the tube and not let her be sustained in this assisted way of life, would they still fight it because they want her to be alive.
