Republican group persuades Jesuit university to let them set up a table and solicit funds to support military personnel. Then Jesuit university finds out they're working for the Adopt A Sniper program. Sounds bad? They were selling wristbands that say, "1 Shot, 1 Kill, No Remorse, I Decide." The good Fathers at Marquette University decided that it raised too many questions.

You have to wonder... what exactly are these people (the right wingnuts soliciting) were thinking. *standing ovation for the Fathers*

It's a religious college, and they're soft-peddling their decision because they didn't think it through in the first place (that suporting the military may be at cross-purposes), but even if they decided that the military was good, they don't want to think about the fact that soldiers are out there killing people, and here it is thrust in their faces - but tacked onto that message is the "glamorous" sniper-playing-god message.

You've also gotta wonder why our military needs donations. And can I write them off?

I'm sure the Fathers got a wake-up call. But at the same time, given that it's a religious college, the solicitors should have known that the bracelets crossed the line. At least when the Fathers got their reality check, they corrected course to where they should have been in the first place.

It's an interesting demonstration of "ethics" on all sides.

Yah... I thought the bit about the military "needing" donations was interesting as well. I wonder what's on the registry?
