I was taking a trip with Whorlpool. I don’t remember where we were going, but we were going in my car and he was driving. It was supposed to be about a half day’s drive. It was a pleasant , sunny Wisconsin afternoon. We stopped for a while by a field. He and I walked out into it and sat in the dirt. I forget what he was doing - maybe reading a book. I was finding things. There were toys scattered around nearby. Tonka trucks and cars and stuff, like some kid was playing with them the day before. When I first found one, I was going to take it because I figured it was lost out there, but then I saw a whole bunch of them, and decided they must know where they were. The field was planted with corn, but it was only twelve to eighteen inches high, so I wasn’t certain that’s what it was. I discovered that there was another crop planted there as well. It was something like pumpkins or squash. At first I thought it was leftover seeds that had sprouted on their own, but then I realized it was all in rows. I tried telling Whorlpool that planting two crops at once meant the farmer was environmentally conscious, but he wasn’t very impressed. Whorlpool asked me if I had heard his theory about flowers and something, but I was distracted and didn’t hear. A few minutes later, as we were walking back to my car, I asked him what he had said, but he was a little bit ahead of me and I missed it again.

I don’t remember the earlier parts of the dream, while we were driving, but the part in that field is very vivid. I remember the road and the flat fields, and my car, and the big red barns on either side, and the toys and the look of the weird plants. I remember the feel of the slightly sandy, slightly dry cornfield soil.

This dream was a little different, in that everything was perfectly normal. Nothing broke the laws of physics. Everything I saw actually was what it was supposed to be - Whorlpool actually looked like Scott, for example. He wasn’t just some guy who I "knew" was him. The only thing that was a little out of the ordinary was that the two plants I saw in the field did not look quite like any real plants that I know.

I woke up early today. I went to bed at 1:00 this morning, and I woke up a bit after eight. I think that’s why I remembered this dream. I was able to wake up slowly enough that I was still dreaming, and the fresh memories of my dream self just merged with that of my actual self. I remembered another dream a couple of weeks ago. Before that, I think it had been months. Even on weekends, my alarm usually jars me awake, (albeit later than on weekdays) and I have to concentrate on getting up.
