remodeling... or not

We've had the worst time getting Home Depot to put in our countertop. We sat down and ordered it on May 8th. We still don't have the quote. It was over two weeks before they even came to measure, and now it's going on two weeks since then, while they said they'd call in a week to ten days.

Now things are going better with the flooring - at least on Home Depot's part. We ordered it last weekend, and they came to measure on Tuesday. Then they told us they couldn't do laminate flooring because of a hump in the floor. That was disappointing because that sort of thing is really appealing to homebuyers these days. So we went back today to sign up for vinyl. Now it's going to be at least four more weeks (from Tuesday) before they install, probably more. Four weeks from now is the Fourth of July weekend, so I imagine it will definitely be later.

We were originally as of early March, we were planning on having this all done by May first. Now it will be the middle of July. wtf?

Have you ever seen the TV show Mad About You? It had Helen Hunt and Paul Reiser. Anyway, they were looking at a new apartment and he thought the floor was fine, and she said it sloped. Or was the Seinfeld? It was a running joke through out the season. I just pictured you two dropping marbles on the floor to prove it was flat. :)

I usually notice sloping floors. They don't usually bother me, though.
