I got the DVD player and VCR working last night. Thanks to all of you who offered assistance. As some of you suggested, it was the input selection on the TV. I'm sure I tried to adjust that, and decided that either it wasn't what I thought it was, or I couildn't actually switch it without a remote. But last night I just switched it. Everything's fine now.

We watched Amelie and had margaritas.

That's probably what's wrong with our surround sound system. I've got the two back speakers not firing. I'll have either my son or Stan's son come over and look at it.

We just got a Wal*Mart demo TV/VCR combo for $65. The VCR had never been used and t works. Only problem: No remote or owners manual. It was real fun trying to set it up, but it works (even without cable)!
