Here it is the beginning of April, and I almost couldn't get any water. They're doing this major road reconstruction outside of my house. They're replacing the water lines, so they hooked me up to an alternate water supply. They have this big hose running down the sidewalk, and they've hooked garden hoses to it. They connect the garden hoses with people's outside faucets - where they normally have garden hoses connected - and the people have water. Since it dropped below freezing last night, my garden hose got a bit frozen. I kept a trickle of water running all night (this alternate water also happens to be free), but when I checked it at 5:40 AM, I could hardly get any out of the faucet. It was fine when I got up at 8:00. I'm not sure if that was because of the sun or the propane bottle sitting in my front yard.

Wow, it's blocking Darren's driveway!

They opened mine, and he usually comes in there.

Notice his water supply garden hose?

At least they give you a source of water. We were told we'd be without water for two days, and to find our own sources, by the city. It didn't help Mike downstairs at all, but we were lucky enough to be hading out on the road anyway.

Ours is going to be out for another week, at least.

Funny, they didn't tell me about it. I knew, but they didn't tell me when or how. I got home from work at 5:30 last firday, and there were a couiple of water department guys hooking people up. They needed to get into my basement to shut off my water. I don't know what they (I) would have done if I hadn't gone home then.

What is? The construction, the water, or that it froze?

I didn't even tell you about all the construction that day. I had to part down a side street, and had to go three doors down to cross to my side. When they were filling in the hole, they were using this vibrating ground tamper which shook my whole house.

I can't get any work done when they're working out there, because it's interesting to watch. :-D

Yeah. But get so into everything that goes on. I like seeing what they're digging, and watching how the operators work, and how they communicate, and what those things are that they use, and what they put in the holes, and how the drivers know where they're supposed to go, and just everything.

Like how there's this one guy who does nothing but stand next to the hole and watch. Some safety thing, I guess. But how did he get that job? Was it a reward or a penalty? Who does he work for? The contractor? OSHA?

21st century?

Hey, that looks like pretty good soil, :). It sure does make a mess when the cities replace water lines...Have a good weekend Kevin.
