Why is it that when I go to make a comment, and the journal is in read-only mode, it won't even give me the comment page, but when my journal is in read-only mode, it still gives me the Update page, and only displays the outage notice after I hit the post button, whereupon my entry is gone when I hit the back button?

I hate it when that happens. Suggestion: maybe highlight your post & copy it before you try to submit if you *suspect* you might be having problems. I think I'll do that in the future if I've composed a lengthy post I don't want to lose.

It happens so seldom, I never think of that unless it's a really long post. But even two paragraphs is long when you have to rewrite.

A while back I wrote a post about taxes. I knew I'd have to think (!) carefully, edit, re-write, etc. So I used WordPerfect to compose it. Then I just copied & pasted. Worked just fine & there was no danger of "losing it."

If you (a) use a client or (b) stop using IE, then you won't lose things by hitting the back button.

I used to use the clients more. I think I stopped because it was an extra login.

I seldom have that back button problem on my own computer. It was Cyn's. Remeber I posted about that a few months ago. We took some of the advice offered then, and it hasn't been as bad, but it sure sucked this time.

Oh, I remember that you said that nothing gets cached, so going back always fetches the page again. Poop. Suggestions (a) and (b) will still work.
