They were both born in Denmark but met here, in western Wisconsin. They were married in 1890 and had seven children.

Great photo! My last name is Copenhaver. When my husband arrived in Copenhagen on a business trip many years ago, the customs agent said, "Welcome home."

i recognise the name severin, but it certainly is not common anymore. i too was named after my great grandmother, and not a lot of people share my name, either.

I'd have to check on where they were from. I think I've heard. Seems like it was just outside of Copenhagen.

Sometimes I see it spelled Severine. It seems like most of their kids had "American" first names and traditional Danish middle names.
