I would say this applies to any sort of photography.

I have a digital camera. If I use the little LCD screen on the back my pictures come out better than if I look through the conventional view finder.

A lot of people have trouble lining up shots through viewfinders. My grandma, for example, always has her subjects over to one side of her pictures.
