I dislike the negativity I've heard about the Independance Day celebrating this year. Like many people, I'm unhappy with what our administration is doing with this country, but for some reason the bashing was bugging me.

Then [livejournal.com profile] kricker put it into words for me. She said, "... a day that is, for me, becoming less of a celebratory occasion, and more of an occasion of reflection on what it means to be an American. I wanted to hear about the things that were good about America, that we needed to remember and live up to."
I hope my fourth of july entry wasn't too negative.:(
I really do love my country. I'm just tired of it being represented by people who bring out the worst tendencies of our nation.

Happy belated fourth, Freekee:)

No, not you at all.

Last night, I remarked to Cyn that I couldn't remember the last time I had a sparkler. Thanks. :-)

I am also sorry if mine got to you. I am not anti.. just apathetic about that holiday. I hope you got enough positive reflection to satisfy you.

Yeah, I knew how you felt. No problem.

Sorry to hear about your tire fiasco. Are you carrying that 4 ton jack in the back of your car? Hope you've got a sturdy trunk.

heh.. actually I took the four ton back because stbx had a six ton hidden in a tool box that was in a tool box that was behind some junk in the garage. He said I could use it.. and it was the same thing. It is in the jack .. "hole" that the bent scissors jack went in.

I am glad the tire portion of the weekend is over, thank you very much.

Hey, you're welcome to hide under my anti-holiday rock with me any time. ;)

Oh, I don't need the rock to keep it out, just the fence to block some of the "noise." :-)

But it's so very pleasant under this here rock once in a while! Although coming out from it can be a bit of a shock some times.

I agree that the 4th should be a good time for reflection.

We don't really need to reflect on our independence from other countries' rule. We do need to reflect on whether or not we're really in a democracy any more, whether or not we're truly free here. Patriotism does not mean we shouldn't question our government and hold it accountable to the will of the people.

Thank you. :)

Thats the good thing about living in small, redneck towns...They love their country and show it all the time. Not just on the 4th.

But if I have to hear one more person ask me to help get Gray Davis recalled...I am going to scream!!!

There aren't too many Democrats around here.

We don't have the trouble with rednecks. It's the conservative businesspeople that bug me.
