Liz Phair

Jeff Tweedy of Wilco, and Liz Phair stopped in at WMSE (She's playing with Wilco on tonight). Phair's voice doesn't sound like I expected. She has kind of a high-pitched teenage-girly sounding voice.

She's recently put out some music that I can stand. I wish she could sing better.

i have heard only one tune off her new album
which i like just fine, but it's not her usual assured sound~

I've never been able to tolerate her. If the recent song I've heard a few times is actually hers, the poor girl should hang it up.

Didn't she used to have kind of a gruff, low voice?

Is she recovering from heroin addiction?

From what I heard years ago, I thought she was more vocally versatile that all this I'm hearing now.

Apparently she sings at the low end of her range. I was surprised by how high her voice is.

Yeah, I hate her singing voice. And her lyrics. And the music she puts to her words. The other parts of her songs are okay. She should join a band.

It's unkind of me to say so, but I've never had much patience with sopranos. I like shirjani's voice, and Kate Bush's and a few others, but high pitched girly voices, particularly breathy ones honestly piss me off.

I know that sounds crazy, but it's like they trigger this really hostile response in me that makes me want to scream or throttle someone.

Maybe it's a past life thing.
