That sucks about Dale Earnhardt. I'm not a race fan, but it is sad to see anyone die, especially someone of that stature, even in a dangerous sport like auto racing.

And it was on the last lap.

I haven't read the full description of the race yet, but my first question is...how does it feel to be the person who won the race? Did they win because of the tragedy? I'm sure there was no joy in that win. Maybe that sounds like a weird callous question....

Earnhardt's team held the top three spots. His son was in second. A guy who had never won a race was in first, and he was in third. He spent the last part of the race holding off the competitors, so his teammate could win. He was trying to cut someone off from passing him, when they bumped. He lost control, overcompensated and slammed into the wall at 180 mph.

Michael Waltrip (the winner) was hired by Dale Earnhardt. This was the first season he would be racing for Dale Earnhardt Inc :o/ If you go to Nascar.com (http://www.nascar.com), you can read about it if you'd like.

Thanks
