This overpatriotic thing is so stupid I just want to move on, but it's so stupid that I can't.

Okay, first of all, I can see renaming German foods during WWII, but the French are not our enemy!

Since at least half the world is opposed to our war efforts on all levels, why are we picking on the French? It's just more French bashing.

And the whole thing seems rather bandwagonesque. I imagine that first McDonalds in North Carolina or wherever thought it would be kind of funny to do, and would gain them a lot of publicity. And then, because they like picking on the French, everyone else started doing it, and then suddenly people started saying, "what the French are doing is just despicable. I just can't bring myself to eat something that's named after them."

And finally, calling them "freedom fries" is stupid. Not only is France no less free than we are, the whole war on Iraq is not about freedom either. Well, except maybe the freedome to attack whomever the hell we want to.

Then there are the people who say the French owe us for WWI, but I disagree there. They don't owe us anything, and even if they did, they shouldn't be expected to capitulate to our wishes, when they feel it is wrong.

If one finds it absolutely necessary to say the French must pay for the freedom that some feel the US gave them, perhaps those people should consider the bargain well paid for long before the wars, when the French gave the US its ultimate symbol of freedom - Statue of Liberty.

Oh friend, this war thing is so sad. im sure it wont going to be a good thing to someone, i guess that the entire world will hate the USA. I don´t understand somethings:

1 -Why the hell the USA want that other people burn the bombs if the USA have more bombs then everybody?

2 -Why not send the ONU inspectors to the USA?

3 -Why Bush don´t think about to burn your own bombs?

I just think that your president want to conquest the world, in my opinion he is lots more strange then Hitler. he looks like the brain of the pink and brain cartoon.. and in my opinion the USA are the bigger terrorists in the world.

Hey Kevin, you are my friend, i don´t hate your people. it´s obvious that there are so much good people living there but i just like the peace, i would like to see a calm and peaceful world but im sure that Bush disagree with my thoughts..

Actually, the French are less free than we are (just try to buy a pound of anything there). Not that it matters -- I plan on a brunch at La Madeline, just because of the SOUND of the name.

Besides, who wants freedom-cut green beans? Though spanish kisses are superior to their french variety (the difference? You start south of the mountains...)

There is speculation that all of this, at its root, has to do with US concerns over the growing power of the European Union. With the colonization of Iraq as the first step, once we gain control of the Persian Gulf, we will be in a position to demand anything we want from the Europeans, and if it comes to it, dominate them in war.

French bashing is silly today, but perhaps it is slowly helping us accept an idea which would have been an anathema to us in any other time in history.

Will our presence in the middle east be a stabilizing or destabilizing influence?

Why would we need to dominate the EU in war?

Will we also be able to control Asia? Politicallky as well as economically? It sounds like we're in a good position to take control of China's market, but what abouit the rest of it, and will that be enough to control them politically as well?

The threat of increased terrorism caused by war and occupation there seems to be a bigger threat to our economy than letting the EU gain power over us.

Just some questions that are raised by that theory.

All of this anti french sentiment is not only stupid.. it is
ineffectual. I mean.. what is the point of taking the word french out of every food item here in the US? Pouring out french wine.. what the HELL do they care what happens to it once it gets here.. we STILL PAID FOR IT! Humans are silly critters sometimes.
