plumbing

Today went better, even though I stil didn't get much done. I got back from the store at 2:00 with some plumbing supplies. I spent the next three hours trying to figure out what I was going to do. I figured out where the lines were going, and what joints I needed and how much tubing and such. And figured out where the valve would go and all that stuff. And I pondered the fact that I have to cut through a joist to put the drain in the floor. And then I went to my mom's for dinner. And then I went shopping again. And then I managed to put a couple of lines in and take one of the old pipes out.

Now I'm moving. Tomorrow should go better, if I have enough time to spend.

Godspeed to you Mr. freekee in the quest for the perfect bathroom... We luckily have done very little plumbing, but we were without a terlet for about a week... You learn to frequent the local bar restaurant at strategic times and to use the alternate facilities a la Lambeau for the less important duties...

A whole week? I think I'll just have it disconnected ong enough to do the wall, and again for a little while to put in the floor.

Planning

Planning is so important. It makes me think of planning to make a new quilt. Choosing the fabric and the pattern are lots of fun, but then I put in quite awhile doing "nuts and bolts" planning. Exactly how many pieces and exactly what size and any shortcuts, if applicable. It saves getting started and then finding I'm confused, or have made a major mistake.
