If there was no backlash against the Republicans this time, there will be none in two years. History will have been rewritten by the winners, and you can be sure that whatever happens will be portrayed in the best light.
Few people really like Al Gore. A whole lot of people really hate Hillary Clinton. Not to mention the people that would vote against a woman on principle. There are more than you think.
