With the 107th Congress finished except for a November lame-duck session, environmentalists have won major battles to protect the Arctic wildlife refuge and to stop the gutting of the Endangered Species Act -- at least for now. We stopped the proposal to drill for oil in the refuge -- America's greatest wildlife preserve. And legislation went nowhere to give Interior Secretary Gale Norton (no friend of wildlife) nearly sole authority to decide which species to protect as endangered. Also stopped was the Bush administration's attempt to log more of our pristine public lands under the guise of forest-fire prevention.

and you actually believe every word of this?

"Stopped" meaning it didn't get a vote in this congress, yeah. Aside from the spin in favor of this organization.

What do you have to say about it?

indeed, it didn't get thru congress, i can't dispute that....that's a fact.....i suppose it's just the spin that irks me....

particularly, the ANWR spin......i believe it to be total bullmanure......first of all, there is a presumption that there is economically recoverable petroleum in all of ANWR and that the entire refuge would be an industrial wasteland........the fact of the matter is that no one really knows for sure if there is enough oil there to make development worthwhile......is it a common sense proposal to put the blinders on?........

oops, i said common sense......i don't think it's common sense or facts that really interest the backers of the environmental lobbies......yeah, it's a jaded viewpoint, but it's mine....

I'd appreciate your viewpoint, rather than just telling me I'm an idiot.

At least, that's what, "and you actually believe every word of this?" sounds like.

it seemed obvious that the piece was a cut and paste.....and i was in a hurry at the time......

if i thought (and i DO NOT) that you were an idiot, i would have told you outright....

what i do feel, is that too many organizations promote their causes with half truths (and those causes go both ways on the issues).......perhaps i'm just tired of listening to campaign rhetoric...

I recommend you choose your words more carefully in the future.
