We went to see Jethro Tull on Saturday night. They played in Sheboygan at Lakefest, a free festival. It was a big tent, with the stage on one end. Cindy and I rode up with a friend of hers and her daughter. It was a little over half an hour from here, but Cindy's friend had half an hour more left to her home.

It was a good show. I've seen them five times, or so, and this wasn't one of the best, and it was kind of short, but it was definitely worth seeing. The crowd was a beer drinking free festival kind of crowd, so they were a bit noisy. We got there an hour before show time, so we were stuck back by the spotlight towers. I'm tall, so I could see the stage, but Cyn only got glimpses of the band. Her friend is pretty short, so I imagine she hardly saw any of it. They played for just over an hour and a half. Ian's voice was pretty thin. He had surgery for polyps on his vocal cords in the early eighties, and I think his voice had improved after that, but he sounded worse than I've heard lately. Still, he sounded perfectly fine on any song later than Aqualung. He sounded good on all his recent songs, because they were recorded with his recent voice. It's funny to see Anderson jump around and wave his arms and do all those tired Mick Jagger moves. It seems wrong of me to complain that he looks goofy doing that at his age. He looks like a respectable guy, at a glance, but he's really rather a dirty old man.... waving that flute between his legs. :-D Anyway, there was Martin Barre, as always, on guitar, and Doane Perry on drums, Andy Giddings on keyboards (the second flute) and someone whom I don't remember seeing before, Jonathan Noyce on bass. They didn't have the best sound mix, but maybe that had to do with it being in a tent.

Those tired Mick Jagger moves, eh? Maybe *you'd* be tired if you tried any of them! :P
