Imagine this: In 1886 General Crook captured the famous American Indian Geronimo in the Southwest. One hundred and sixteen years later we have more computer literate first graders than computer literate first grade teachers. In 1950, the U.S. percentage of world motor vehicle production was 76 percent. In 1994 it was 25 percent. Examples to make the point obviously.
What the hell was that?

This was to illustrate change. What the hell does Geronimo have to do with anything? We've got thirty times as many first graders as first grade teachers. Everyone else makes cars now too. So what? It is obviously to me that this Chief Operations Officer (or something like that) was not meant to be a writer.

I think his point is that nowadays the engine in your Jeep Cherokee is managed by a computer.

Well, he spent a whole page using lame analogies, statistics and historical anecdotes to show how the world has changed. Then he said that it is our duty to make sure that things continue to change, so we don't remain stagnant.

I think we've learned why this guy was put in charge of the divisions they're trying to sell off.

so, he bores the people working in that division until they want to leave the company?

Oh, we already do want to leave. I think the higher ups want him to leave too. This is the guy who appeared in a video message to all the employees wearing a shirt with the creases from the package.

I only iron once or twice a year. I'd rather rewash than iron.

Well, he does say, "imagine this:" Maybe he just wants us to imagine it.
