friends and relations

The wedding was Cheryl and Craig's.

I've known Cheryl since she was born. She's family.

Actually, she was family for a while. She was my stepsister, since our parents were married for a few years. I don't see her much, but I (and Cyn) get together with her mother now and then. I'm disappointed that she (the mother) is moving to Arizona at the end of the month, because we won't get to see her much anymore. Hopefully, we can get together this Sunday. (It's kind of ironic that I will be meeting my dad's ex-wife on Fathers' Day.)

It's a bit different between Cheryl's brother and I. We were friends before our parents married, but during that time, we grew apart. When I'd run into him after the split, it was awkward. He now lives in California, so I don't see him very often, and when I do, it seems important to speak with him. Last night was the first time I can remember not having any awkwardness around him. That was nice.

His wife is very nice. When she sees me, she always says how good it is to see me, and that we need to see each other more often. I'm always a bit amused by this. It's like she knows that her husband and I were friends and stepbrothers so she thinks we... care more than we really do. I don't know. I appreciate the enthusiasm, but I hope it doesn't get out of hand. :-}
