I saw them a couple of times where they did this "Battle for the Planet of the Apes" song, where John and John would be the people and they'd play a guitar and keyboard thing for a minute or so, and all the audience would pump their right fists in the air and yell "Pe-pul! pe-pul!" And then the drummer and bassist (whose names I do not remember) would be the apes, and they'd play a bass & drum thing for a minute and the audience would wave it's left fists in the air and yell, "apes! Apes! Apes!" And they'd go back and forth and it'd be this big musical battle, and who ever got the best audience response would win.
When they played here the apes won and the Johns seemed a bit confused by it. They said they'd never seen an audience happy that the apes won. So I was wondering if anyone happened to remember it in their town.
At the last two I've seen, the winners were split between people and apes.
That whole idea is actually a game within the band - the Johns versus the rhythm section. Whoever makes their music too complicated and loses the crowd first wins, or so I've heard.

Don't ask why I thought of this.
Did you survive your trip?
